TESTIMONIALS
Best training I have been a part of at this property—very inspiring! It was an uplifting training that provided tools to be better “in LIFE”… that is what our team needs, we all need it.
I wanted to take a moment to share some feedback on the recent motivational training session with Andy from Q-Principle. The session was phenomenal — truly motivational and highly engaging. Andy brought such great energy and insight, and everyone who participated left feeling inspired, empowered, and excited about what lies ahead. We’re extremely thankful for the opportunity to be part of this experience. It’s had a positive and lasting impact on the team. It would be wonderful to have this type of motivational training at least twice a year. Experiences like this are incredibly valuable for team morale, focus, and overall engagement. Thank you again for making this possible.
I truly appreciated the improv portion of the workshop, it was a great way to think differently about things we do every day; like mirroring guest emotions and energy levels and using the “yes, and..” statement when addressing a guest concern so that they feel heard and assured that their concern will be handled. That session tied everything together and put a lot of his points into practice! Highly recommend for not just guest-facing positions, as there was a lot of emotional intelligence concepts put into practice.
Thank you for providing the experience for us! I enjoyed hearing about his experiences in the industry and stories from his career. Andy was very engaging, made 3.5 hours fly by, which was a good thing. He’s a great public speaker and one of my favorite trainings I’ve done with HRLT. I would love for him to come back in the future.
I wanted to share a quick note about the Q Principles training we attended with Andy. I found it to be incredibly engaging and impactful. I appreciated how it focused on personal accountability, elevating customer service, and improving communication. It was a great reminder of how attitude and service mindset directly impact the guest experience, but also our day-to-day lives. I am looking forward to applying these principles both personally and professionally.
Andy speaks about elevated industry standards, which should be a daily routine for all leaders. He is very experienced in Food and Beverage. He has spearheaded the F&B Impact Training for Hyatt Corporation. He is the first speaker to truly reach the minds and hearts of the line associate. The associates and managers truly enjoyed his presentation and said it was the first meaningful “training”. I could go on, but here you go.
Personally, I thought he was an amazing, uplifting, and engaging speaker. He took us up to some highs and should I say lows, but what I mean is his story of losing a child. I most definitely think there are things I will be implementing in my daily work experience, if not in my personal life. Thank you. It was an awesome experience! Definitely one of the best sessions I have ever experienced. The coaching about how to deal with crisis and hearing about his experiences was very inspiring. The Improvs and training were very helpful as well!
I was in attendance for the Monday AM Q Principle session. I felt that it was incredibly moving and motivating with what Andy had shared during this. His words were inspiring to change my perspective in both my professional and personal life. Although my role is not as guest-facing as I’m most often on the 4th floor, this session has pushed me to improve my customer service abilities and to think of ways to make my interactions with guests exceptional. I believe that as a whole, Andy and Q Principle are able to truly motivate our resort to elevate our service standards. Thank you for your part in bringing him to Tahoe; I hope to see him again.
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for organizing the Q-Principle session this past Monday. I had an amazing experience and truly appreciated the opportunity to attend. Andy was a fantastic presenter. He began the session by expressing his hope that we would leave with a new mindset and perspective—and that’s exactly what happened for me. What resonated with me most was that the session wasn’t just about work; it was about becoming the best version of ourselves, and how that naturally translates into our professional lives. Since attending, I’ve noticed a genuine shift in my mindset and a more positive outlook overall. I’m grateful to have been part of such a meaningful experience. Thank you again for making it happen and for bringing Andy in to share his wisdom.
Thank you so much for providing us with an actual LIFE COACH rather than another “ordinary” training. I really appreciated the emphasis on being a happy, whole person in order to show up in our professional lives with positivity that ripples into the experience of the stay our guests choose us to have. It really aligns with our philosophy of care for our employees so we can care for others/guests! On the manager level, I took away that we make the biggest impact to our colleagues by paying attention to the personal details of them as individuals. Treating them as human beings rather than just workers will lead to stronger performance as well as loyalty.
Andy has a great way of viewing life and small (and large) changes you can make to your daily life that can shift your perspective. The first day was, I think, the best content and relatable to all, with a lot of family stories and larger lessons. Definitely good points about making everyone feel included, to pivot and be flexible as needed, and derive more enjoyment out of your work and life because it is all up to you. I enjoyed the leadership session, but I felt there was a lot of time spent on not getting angry, which seemed a bit outdated in this environment, but provided good lessons about how to adapt and shield yourself from extremes when things don’t go well, and be more positive.
I first had the pleasure of experiencing Andy’s workshop five years ago in the Bahamas. Even then, I was deeply impressed by the way he built a strong connection between the culinary and F&B teams. His session not only delivered valuable insights but also significantly elevated the service standards of our staff. Andy brought a remarkable level of professionalism and energy that truly inspired the entire culinary team. He’s a true legend in our industry, and I’m grateful we had the opportunity to work with him. I believe there is still so much more we can gain from his expertise. Having him involved again would be a great step toward taking our performance to the next level.
I want to thank you for allowing us to experience something so magical and life-changing when Andy was here. Here are my thoughts of the seminar. Mindset is everything the moment we wake up. I loved the idea of how coming to work shouldn’t be looked at as just a 9-5 job. I’m going to work for my wife and kids and this is something I value very much. Our guest perspective was also a great reminder to truly care for every guest that walks in this hotel, because they are the ones paying us and our families to enjoy life. In this perspective, I believe we can move mountains on showing our gratitude towards every guest. Don’t take everything so personal, life is too short. Enjoy every moment and give my 100 percent in everything I do at work and at home with my family.
I really enjoyed having Andy come speak. I have had a lot of changes and stress in my personal life recently, so his outlook really helped me think on the positive side. I have been working in restaurants since I was 14, so close to 14 years now. When Andy mentioned a team member with 10 years or more can be a little burnt out, while listening to Andy he reminded me why I love this industry so much. My dad would work very hard when I grew up traveling all over the world, but every year he made sure to take our family on a vacation. I still remember and cherish each of those trips. I want to continue that with all of our guests. Some guests might only be able to take one trip each year. Tahoe is such a special place to me and all of our guests. I want to help our guests have a memorable trip so they can also cherish these memories for a long time. One thing that I really will hold dear to me was how far Andy has made it in his career. I also have dyslexia and other learning disabilities. It was a bit of inspiration to know those disabilities are a challenge but cannot be used as an excuse. He learned how to utilize his weaknesses to become strengths. I was very inspired by that and want to do some self-reflection so I am able to enhance my abilities in these industries as well as just in my everyday life. I already purchased his book and am very grateful you and the leadership team were able to bring Andy to speak.
I enjoyed the training with Andy. The biggest takeaway for me was the final exercise in the management training session. I thought it was very powerful. I also enjoyed the roleplaying sessions as they put things into perspective for us to understand how different interactions can snowball. I’m glad to have been a part of the training and appreciate Andy’s time with us.
Andy with Q-Principle was great! The stories shared were very heartfelt and provided great insight to help adjust your mindset. He was a nice change of pace from past trainings, including engagement and laughs. Thank you for asking for feedback. I hope to welcome Q-Principle back in the future.
I thought Andy was a great presenter, really genuine and unafraid to be honest; his message felt very authentic. I appreciated the part on living with joy and love for what you do—my big takeaway there was passion fuels excellence. He definitely made a strong impact; even the brand-new colleagues from orientation were speaking about his message.
I appreciated Andy’s coaching session and the captivating stories he shared, all rooted in his personal experiences within the hospitality industry. He offered a unique approach to leadership and emphasized the importance of small details—for both guests and employees. A powerful takeaway for me was Andy’s emphasis on authenticity and truly seeing your employees as individuals—especially recognizing learning differences—highlighting a deeper level of leadership. Managing with trust, striving for excellence, and offering meaningful rewards not only supports personal growth but also builds a stronger, more inclusive team culture. I also enjoyed learning about his hospitality background.
Although joining the workshop virtually had its challenges, I found that Andy shared some really valuable insights and takeaways. The concept of “hospitality is free.” At its core, hospitality isn’t about how luxurious the space is or how much something costs—it’s about how you make people feel. And making someone feel welcomed, seen, respected, and cared for doesn’t cost a thing. Genuine hospitality shows up in a smile, remembering a guest’s name, holding the door, or offering help without being asked. These moments cost nothing, but they’re what people remember most. Not only should this be provided for our guests but for each other. Because hospitality isn’t just a guest-facing value—it’s a human one. Just like our guests, our colleagues want to feel valued, seen, and respected. When we treat each other with kindness, patience, and empathy, we create a workplace that feels safe and energizing. Hospitality is a culture, and it begins before the guest walks in the door. At the end of the day, we’re all guests in each other’s day. Hospitality is something everyone can offer. It’s not a budget item; it’s a mindset. In hotels, guests may be paying for the room, the food, the amenities, but hospitality is what creates loyalty.
Mentoring/Coaching: It’s More Than Being a Friend. Being a mentor isn’t just about being liked; it’s about making a real difference in someone’s growth, which then affects their career, finances, and family. Mentorship isn’t about friendship; it’s about impact. While trust and connection are essential, a great mentor doesn’t just offer comfort—they offer challenge, guidance, and accountability. That means asking the hard questions, giving honest feedback, and sometimes saying what needs to be heard, not just what’s easy. Being fully present in the moment, listening not just to respond but to understand. People don’t always need a cheerleader; they need someone who believes in them enough to challenge them. Someone who listens deeply, speaks truthfully, and shows up consistently.
First and foremost, I am super appreciative that we had the opportunity to have Andy here at the resort—thank you! His training resonated with me, and I found his message very powerful and extremely impactful. His background with Hyatt also made him super relatable, especially when he shared his stories. I plan on incorporating some of his advice within my life, and in return I know I’ll be a better person for it.
Andy’s life story is truly remarkable and touching. He is an example of a person getting one more degree to get to boiling point and move mountains personally and professionally. It made me realize why I love this industry, its daily challenges, and the people I work with. Also, very important—the “why?” Which is taking care and going above and beyond for our guest, enjoying while doing it, and keeping the push to always be better at doing it. It was overall an amazing time with the different teams that participated. Thank you so much for inviting Andy.
I really enjoyed the last day on how to approach guests when they are eating. I find this helpful when I am connecting with contacts and approaching tables on wedding tastings. I also enjoyed Andy’s perspective on how each of us can impact another person or guest by just taking time to acknowledge them.
What an inspiration Andy is, and he is such a motivator. One of my biggest takeaways is to bring the human component into our daily work lives and have a genuine care for others.
Here are a few takeaways I got from the Q-Principle Training: I liked how Andy brought real-life examples into the training that are relatable to everyone. Reading a training manual vs hearing someone say it out loud makes a huge difference and makes people second-guess their thoughts. I enjoyed hearing him talk about the difference between being a leader and a manager; a lot of people think they are one and the same, but they definitely are not. Having been the President of the PTA at my kids’ elementary school for two years as well as being involved with the County PTA, this training hit home and will help me as I continue being involved and leading the team this upcoming school year.
